As parents, we work hard to create positive, healthy living environments for our children. My focus with the Make It Green in 2015 Campaign has led me to be more cautious about chemicals my family may be in contact with. It's very important to be aware of these chemicals and any potential dangers associated.   I started off thinking about things we do day-to-day and realized there's numerous chemicals lurking in our homes that can cause health problems so I spent the entire year cutting off their access.  Now we use natural laundry detergents, fabric softeners, cloth diapers, cloth wipes and reusable paper towels, but that's just the beginning... healthier skin care, and oral care is just as important for you and your family.
BALM! Baby and Taylor's Pure and Natural have a large product line to keep you and your little ones safe from chemicals in the bathroom.  For this review, I was sent the Taylor's Toothpaste, Tooth Powder and BALM! Baby Fresh Out of the Tub.
I love that it's so easy to know exactly what's in these products- the list is short and simple and only made with natural ingredients.  For example, the Taylor's Tooth Powder ingredients are as follows: oral cleansing & healing herbal blend, activated charcoal, xylitol, sacred clay and pure cinnamon essential oils.
Do you know what's in your toothpaste?  Ingredients in conventional oral care products may be harmful to your family's health.  Triclosan, an antibacterial added to "prevent gingivitis" found in many brands, has been shown to interfere with hormones according to the National Resources Defense Council (1). Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is a foaming agent added to many brands is actually classified as a skin irritant, expected to be toxic and harmful according to the Skin Deep EWG database (2). Flouride is a natural occuring mineral but did you ever wonder why toothpastes that include flouride come with a warning label saying that ingestion is poisonous to children?  The CDC says, "Children aged 6 years and over are considered past the age that fluoride ingestion can cause fluorosis. In addition, the swallowing reflex has developed sufficiently by age 6 years for most children to be able to control inadvertent swallowing of fluoride toothpaste and mouthrinse."  Flouride ingestion can cause discoloration of the teeth, stomach discomfort, nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, skin rash around the mouth, increased blood glucose levels and other effects (3).  The best take on all this is to work on preventing your child from being exposed to chemicals like these by using natural products like the Taylor's Toothpaste and Tooth Powder.
In case you're wondering about the tooth powder, activated charcoal is a substance that toxins are attracted to like a magnet- particularly plaque.  It's also well known for being a natural tooth whitening agent, removing stains and has many other benefits.  It is safe and effective when used 2-3 times a week as directed.
All you do is put on the toothpaste on the toothbrush, then dip it softly in the jar of the tooth powder.  Use the toothpaste 2-3 times a day and use the tooth powder 2-3 times a week.
The tooth paste says it's for adult, but it's safe to swallow and 100% natural, a product you can trust with your kids. I tried the cinnamon flavor, however there is also orange, mint and spearmint flavors available.   My kids aren't big cinnamon fans, but the flavor is very subtle.  Our entire family enjoys using Taylor's toothpaste and tooth powder!
And the BALM! Baby Fresh Out of the Tub baby wash/shampoo is amazing! It smells like a lush tropical rainforest!  It suds up into a great lather with or without a washcloth.  My little ones have very sensitive skin- my 5 year old (modeling for this review), has keratosis pilaris and my 2 year old has severe eczema flare ups now that it's winter.  Having the BALM! Baby Fresh Out of the Tub baby wash/shampoo keeps their skin and hair naturally nourished and soft.  My 5 year old has fine, curly hair and since we started using this product, her hair hasn't been as frizzy, it's full of body and shine.  The best part about this not only this product, but all BALM! Baby & Taylor's products is that they are REALLY affordable!  I have spent more on toothpastes, tooth whiteners, shampoo and bath products in the local supermarket, without all the benefits I've seen from using BALM! Baby & Taylor's products!
What is my favorite thing about this product?  Everything!!! I love that I feel safe using these products with my entire family! Not only are they 100% natural but they're also cruelty-free- I want to keep all animals from unnecessary and often harmful experiments. PLUS they're packaged in eco-friendly/recyclable containers, keeping our planet clean.
Is there anything I'd change about this product? The only complaint I can come up with is that the bath wash/shampoo is not tear free- you should avoid contact with eyes... But there's ways to get around this problem for the most part!  I am very pleased with this experience and will continue supporting this company by purchasing more products!
Here's the scores!
I give BALM! Baby Fresh Out of the Tub a 10/10!
I give Taylor's Toothpaste a 10/10!
I give Taylor's Tooth Powder a 10/10!

  1. I've been looking at products from Taylor's for a while. I am slowing switching everything I use to natural or reusable and these products look great. It's crazy what companies put in products and the harm they can do to us. Right now, we use a Crest toothpaste and my daughter uses it too. The baby just has her mouth wiped out during bath time. We've never tried tooth powder but it's on my must have list!!
